About Jessica
Jessica Ballantine comes to FSU from the
Jacksonville area and is
probably one of the most active CRs in history. She makes it a point to
take part in everything the CRs do and as such has participated in
everything from tabling to intramurals to precinct walking to phone
banking and much much more. Currently she is our Membership Chair
responsible for,
among other things, bringing in new members and organizing club
activities. She has also been invaluable in bringing in numerous
great speakers like County
Comissioner Ed DePuy and Commission candidates Will Messer and Frank
Mayernick. This is Jessica's fourth year in CRs and third year in
service to the club; in 2005/2006 she served as the organization's
Secrretary and was the Political Liaison and Executive Director in
2006/2007.
In four years of active membership Jessica knows exactly how
great of a club CRs can be and how it can have an effect on our world.
She believes that in this time of a Democratic controlled Congress our
influence is more important than ever and it's important that we work
to our fullest to make a difference. She would like to restore the
College Republicans' image and place on campus so that we can once
again make that change we want to see in the world. Jessica's goal for
the CRs in general is to see us more active in politics both on campus
and in our community. She knows this is the way to have a successful
club and secure a bright future of sound leadership for us all.
Away from club service you are likely to find Jessica pouring
over lines and lines of Latin homework as she starts on her
Master's Degree. She's a devout Catholic and you can plan to find her every
Sunday night singing in the choir at St. Thomas Moore. Nevertheless she
always has plenty of time for her favorite passtime - friends - and is
famous for spontaneous trips to Moes, the mall, Wal-Mart, and various
other hang outs around town. She invites everyone to come to the table
on Wednesdays and the meetings on Thursday nights to make new friends
and make a difference in our world.
